Main Materials of Men's Socks

Men's stockings are often made of materials such as cotton, emphasizing softness, breathability, and moisture-wicking properties. The material also needs to be durable.

Socks made with different knitting textures feel different to wear and have varying prices. Generally, stockings made of 100% Japanese goose down are considered high-end, smooth, and have good elasticity. Thicker or ultra-thin styles are generally more durable. Stockings made with core-spun yarn are mid-range, with high elasticity and less prone to snagging. Ordinary 15D stockings usually don't offer the same tightness and smoothness as the former two, but are cheaper.

Tactel: Developed by DuPont, this is a high-tech polyamide fiber. It has a soft touch, excellent breathability, and a comfortable, close-fitting fit. Fabrics made with Tactel are fine, breathable, soft, comfortable, wrinkle-resistant, and have a radiant sheen, keeping clothes looking new day after day.

Lycra: A new type of fiber introduced by DuPont in the United States. This fiber can be stretched very easily, but after recovery, it can fit snugly against the human body with minimal restriction. Adding a little Lycra to knitwear makes it both well-fitting and comfortable, allowing for free movement. Socks containing Lycra exhibit superior elasticity, resilience, colorfastness, and breathability.

Combed Cotton: Cotton fibers are combed during processing, removing almost all impurities. Fabrics spun from this type of cotton have a better feel.

Merced Cotton: This refers to raw cotton fibers that have undergone mercerizing in a concentrated alkaline solution under certain tension conditions. Mercerized cotton fibers, without changing other physical properties, have advantages over raw cotton fibers such as better luster, a more comfortable feel, and relative wrinkle resistance.
